Try a Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service arts and crafts courses for an exciting way to try something new and develop your creative talents. Learn how to draw, make your own clothes, decorate cakes, produce contemporary ceramics work or one of the many other skills on offer in the Borough of Culture 2019.

An excellent teacher! And a great course, we should have more! I learnt more techniques and accuracy in my drawing and really enjoyed exploring different mediums, for example pen/ink, charcoal.

Carol completed a number of courses at ALS starting in 2008. She achieved Tailoring Level 1 and progressed onto the Level 2 course. She is the driving force behind Bees Knees, a sewing and quilt making group for women of all ages. The group has been meeting every week at Priory Court Community Centre for over 10 years. There are currently 30 members and Carol is supported by her husband Robert.

Mo Gallaccio and Jane Evans – Printmakers

Mo and Jane both completed a print making course and a drawing course at The Adult Learning Service. Jane said of her tutor, ‘Lisa was a great help and encouraging’ I had a ‘great time and enjoyed the expert teaching.’

They are both members of the Health and Wellbeing Printing Group at Inky Cuttlefish Studios in Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow. ( and also sell their work at craft fairs and exhibitions.

Annual Craft Fair

The Adult Learning Service has been delivering creative workshops and courses for residents for a number of years. We run an annual Craft Fair to highlight their creative talents where our students can display and sell their work. More information about the 2019 Craft Fair will be on the website as soon as it is available.
