Job club

We also run regular job clubs. No need to book, just come along to one of the sessions. These clubs offer employment support and advice, help with CVs and interviews, as well as access to Universal Job Match and other job search websites.

The Job Club runs during term time.

First week of the month – Top tips for a successful CV, how to:

  • Create the format for your CV
  • List personal details
  • Write a personal profile
  • Create section for your education and qualifications
  • Create a section for your skills and achievements

Second week of the month – Covering letters, how to:

  • Present your contact information
  • Write an eye catching introduction
  • Sell yourself
  • End with a memorable conclusion

Third week of the month – Interview Skills, how to:

  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses
  • Answer those quirky questions
  • Stand out from the crowd
  • Present yourself

Fourth week of the month – Application forms, how to:

  • Register with an agency/employer
  • Complete paper based and online applications
  • Match your skills to job specification

The Workskills for over 50’s programme

Referrals every Friday morning, 9.30am — 11.30am at Queens Road Learning Centre, 97 Queens Road, Walthamstow E17 8QR

You will:

  • Complete an individual programme based on your needs.
  • Have the opportunity to complete work experience.
  • Have access to full and part-time vacancies.
  • Receive support from your own dedicated employment adviser.
  • Receive one to one coaching.

You will develop your skills for work including

  • Digital skills
  • Interview skills
  • Customer service
  • Team work
  • Goal setting
  • Work placement

Steps into Work

The Steps into Work team provides added support from experienced work coaches. You need to be unemployed or economically inactive, a Waltham Forest Resident, able to provide proof of being eligible to work within the UK and 18–25 years of age and 6 months or more unemployed or 25+ years of age and 12 months or more unemployed.
