This course is for any parent/carer who would like to know more about first aid and how to recognise signs, symptoms and possible treatments in the event of an emergency. This course does not lead to a qualification but is to raise awareness of the importance of first aid for families, and you will receive information and advice on what further courses you could progress onto, including ones that lead to nationally recognised first aid qualifications.
Please note there are no crèche facilities at the adult learning service, and children are not allowed in this class.
Family Learning Courses are free to parents and carers.
You will be introduced to some of the key aspects of first aid, for example CPR, choking, recovery position, dealing with bleeding, how to behave when confronted with a first aid emergency.
To enrol you need to visit in person either at Queens Road Learning Centre or the Junction Learning Centre, Both centres are open to take enrolments between 9am and 9pm Monday to Thursday (9am to 4pm during the school holidays), and 9am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
You will need to bring with you proof of ID and address, and evidence of residency in the EU or EEA (European Economic Area) for the past 3 years to complete enrolment.
Examples of other Family Learning courses are Crafts, Literacy, Numeracy, Language (for adults for whom English is a second language), Gardening, ICT Internet Security, Digital Skills, Soap-making and Art classes.
